the little girl at the lake

On the bank of the lake
She sat in the shadow
gazing beyond the horizon
under a weeping willow

Her little feet in the cold water
Her still eyes staring at the sky
At the burst of radiant colors
The sun just left by

Her little figures immersed
Body resting on her tender hands
Feeling the warmth beneath
Of the coarse sand

The evening breeze ran
Through her hair as it fluttered
Kissed her golden face
And her gleaming eyes flickered

I sat by her side on the bank
enjoying my gaze
from a few feet away
as the little soul enjoyed the evening haze

I wondered what she thought
I wondered what was in her heart
As she got up and walked passed
And disappeared in to the dark
